For the book, she followed the high school team through the 2022-23 season.

I think this topic is a culmination of so many things I care about as a sportswriter and just as a fan,” she told cleveland.com. “First the incredible achievements of the dynasty. When I started following them it was 18 in a row. But as I found out more about the story – the focus on mental health, the contrast to gymnastics in America at the time when Gym World and the streak were really being built.
